9 August 2009 - Beirut, Lebanon.
I really was going to blog! However, Blogger is not cooperating.
You were going to see photos of the Sporting Beach Club and our night out with Osama and his brother...and various other shots of random things we've done this week. But alas, it is not to be.
Tomorrow we hope to get up in time for a late morning bus to Damascus. We'll get there eventually. Alyssa has set the itinerary with the help of www.couchsurfing.org. We will be seeing a Syrian guy whom we met on the Corniche the day before we set sail for Cyprus in April. After that, we'll sleep on the couch of a stranger.
Not sure what the internet situation will be, but I do hope to blog from Syria. We'll be gone about two weeks.

WAH WAh Wah wah........need photos of sporting beach club and night out with Osama and his brother (is brother's name also Osama???)....am asking only because it seems that almost every body is named Mohammed....very sad also that you have not posted random photos - I understand you are not offering excuses for flagrant dereliction of duties and thank you for your explanation about blogger's non cooperation....cripes above, a purple pig just flew by my window.......xxxx's LOLA
This 'Syrian Guy', am hoping he's not the same 'guy' that was standing above pretty Byblos beach going -flap flap, flap flap flap, flap flap - you know, fanning his overcoat?
May the couches you sleep on hide no loose springs with which to jab you, may they not be filled with uncomfortable lumps or be infested with couch potatoes - may you journey safely throughout !
Looking forward to seeing photos and blogs - will have to reciprocate with photos of my kapok tree adventures......Myra
